Disaster Summit at the DOST Philvolcs #dostphilvolcs

Yesterday , My blogger friends and I attended the Disaster Summit at the DOST Philvolcs Auditorium UP Diliman. I would like to share with all of you some of the important points during this Summit.... The Philippines is prone to many geological hazards and we need to live safely thats why the PHILVOLCS have their disaster reduction activities which are focused on monitoring and warning, hazard and risk assessment that will provide appropriate science -based scenarios, also the public awareness by educating , preparing and building safety and mainstreaming risk reduction in development planning and having partnership that leads to significant gains in their DRR efforts. The PNRI being the National regulatory authority developed emergency preparedness and response plan procedures to respond to any incident that results in the release of radioactive material in the environment. The Health Physics Research Section of PNRI continues to perform terrestrial, aquatic and athmospheric environmental radioactivity monitoring in the entire Philippines Achipelago and dose assessment for safety of the general public against the hazards of radiation.

The whole session was very informative by the way one the speaker is DOSTSec Fortunato Dela Pena - It pays to always be prepared!
